Collaborations
Artists have the valuable opportunity to choose how they respond to and comment on the world around them. For the most part, I choose to look at and respond to the natural world, particularly wilderness, which must rely on the people who love it to make supporting commentary.

Created in response to On Distant Hills composed by Brent Lawrence during Composing in the Wilderness, 2017 residency. I belong to the Elements Artist Group. DENALI Artists Respond to Music Inspired by Wilderness was conceived at the confluence of two languages - music and visual art. Elements Artist Group, six artists anchored in Alaska, created eighteen pieces of art in collaboration with nine composers from Composing in the Wilderness 2017.
Each piece of art is a personal response to a musical composition. Each artist responded to three pieces of music, generating eighteen works of art - two responses to each of the nine musical compositions.

Artists worked in a variety of media including fiber, ceramic tiles, painting, poetry and bookmaking materials.

Collaboration with Ree Nancarrow for In A Time of Change: Trophic Cascades exhibition (2013), Fairbanks, Alaska. In 2012-13, Ree Nancarrow and I were selected to participate as a collaborative team in "In A Time of Change – Trophic Cascades," a project of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, which offered opportunities for artists to work with scientists in a variety of research subjects for a year. The project culminated in an exhibition that traveled to various Alaska venues. Participating in the project influenced how I look at animals and plants and the ecosystems of which they are a part. The web of relationships among predators, herbivores and the plants that sustain them interest me.

Ree Nancarrow and I were selected to participate in another "In A Time of Change" project
This scientist/artist project focused on the microbial world, specifically in the Arctic region of Alaska. Again, over a year we worked with scientists including a short but fascinating residency at Toolik Research Station (on the haul road 120 miles south of Prudhoe Bay). This project focused my interests on mushrooms, fungus and water borne plants and animals that influence every ecosystem.
